Competition news

Rainbow Texas Scramble

On Saturday, we held a fun rainbow Texas scramble event. The format was played from different tees on different holes. For example, the 1st would be played from the yellow tee, the 2nd from the red tee and the 3rd hole from the green tee and so on. This attracted a lot of people to play and the winners of this event were Steve Illing, Rob Whitely, Malcolm Pepper and Mike Rudd. They managed to score an unbeatable 53.5 with very low handicaps as well. Well done guys.

Hole In One

Great news coming from the ladies section this week as Kaye Bradley had a hole in one on the 10th. Kaye would like to dedicate this to her ongoing work with Dan during her lessons. Well done kaye keep up the good work.

Close House

Close HouseIn light of the British Master this year being hosted at Close House, many of you would know that Lee Westwood is the touring pro for the golf club with their logo on his caps. Young Charlie Thornton and Dan made the trip north to compete against; Steve Harper ex-Newcastle United Keeper and England's Ashes Cricket legend Steve Harmison in a friendly match in what was a close affair leading to a Fulford Victory.

Halfway round BBC's MOTD pundit and Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer playing in a 2 ball appeared and insisted he watched to see how it was meant to be done by a pro and +1 in form Charlie. It was fair to say the moment got the better of them and they missed the fairway but a great moment, especially for Dan being Newcastle Fan.

They eventually let them play through on the 14th Colt Course where they managed to play a hole with the legend, Alan stroked his new Callaway Epic driver straight down the middle, wedged on to 5ft and holed for birdie, almost like a penalty of his.

If you haven't been to this venue yet we certainly recommend the journey north for when the Elite Pro's play there come September. It'll certainly make for great viewing with a very picturesque Northumberland country side.

Good luck to Charlie who is making his USA debut in a the Web.com Tour event, look out for next weeks newsletter to see how he does, good luck Charlie.
