Then on Saturday the big day came, captain’s day. This is the most prestigious event in our calendar and the entries confirmed this. The tee was booked from 6.30am until 4.15pm with 201 entries competing for the captain’s prize, which this year was a limited-edition U.S. Open Callaway tour bag. With the greens rolling the best they have done all year the scoring reflected this. With a few scores in the 40s (stableford) it was going to take a great round to secure the title. That’s exactly what Graham Cherry did. Playing off a handicap of 11 Graham went out and shot a 76 gross to finish with 43 points and claim the title by 2 points from Matt Nicholson. Congratulations Graham. In the yellow tee competition Vic Daniels came out victorious with a fantastic 40 points. Well done Vic. Keep reading for the full list of captain’s day winners. A special mention goes to the Captain for his tireless efforts throughout the whole day which started at 5am and finished somewhere around 11pm. Congratulations on a great day Paul. And, to the greenkeepers who showcased the course in fantastic fashion.
