Midweek Medal On Wednesday 1st August, the mid-week medal took place with a yellow tee stableford and white tee medal. The weather was glorious and alongside it was some magnificent scores. Starting with the white tee medal, Alan Heels won the competition with a brilliant nett 67. With only one shot behind him was David Nunn with a nett 68 and Graham Cherry, Mark Hancy and Richard Milton all scoring a nett 69. Furthermore, the yellow stableford competition also saw some fantastic scores come in starting with Steve Wagstaffe shooting a brilliant 42 points, shortly behind was Chris Woodfine with 39 points and Dave Martin with 37 points. One point to note from the Midweek medal was that out of the 53 entrants in the Yellow Tee competition, one player had a two, however he didn’t enter (no names mentioned). As this occurrence is rarer than an albatross, I’ve put the £43 entry money in the Captains Charity to help Gillie and Paul raise as much money as possible for Dream Flight.
Well done to everyone who took part, as there were some brilliant scores throughout the day.
Connor Cup Saturday 4th August, saw the annual playing of the Connor Cup with many members who paired together to try and retain the trophy, the weather was fantastic with the sun out although this time it wasn’t proving to be too much of a challenge. The pair who triumphed at the top were Doug Burns and Liz Burns with a fantastic score of 68, not far behind them was Alan Heels and Jackie Heels with another great score of 74. Well done to all the pairs who took part. Centenary Cup On Sunday 5th August, the Centenary Cup was running alongside a yellow tee stableford, with many participants entering, the eventual winner was Sam Norman with a great nett 67, and the Yellow stableford was taken by Bill Cunningham on 41 points. |
