Yorkshire Matchplay On Thursday, Friday and Saturday the best amateurs in Yorkshire competed for Yorkshire matchplay champion. The venue was York Golf Club and as you would expect we had a few representatives playing. This included Charlie Thornton, James Cass, Tom Kelly and George Robson. On Thursday, it was the first round. The Fulford lads who made it through were George Robson, Charlie Thornton and James Cass. Then Friday came, and two rounds were played. Unfortunately, George got knocked out of the second round but Charlie and James both advanced. They then faced each other in the quarter-final with James claiming victory over Charlie. That meant James advanced to the final day. In the morning, he played his semi-final match which he managed to win 1up. Then the final. He was up against in-form player Maxwell Berrisford. The match went all the way to the last hole where James unfortunately lost one down. However, it was a great effort and good few days of golf from James, well done from all of us in the pro shop. Monthly Medal On Saturday we had our September Monthly Medal, despite the rain we had a great turn out of competitors. The eventual winner with a great score of 68 was Robert Hutton, just ahead of Matthew Roberts with a 69. In the Yellow Tee Stableford, Rhys Harrison came out on top with 40 points. Great playing guys in some very tough and wet conditions. Midweek Medal On Wednesday we held the Midweek Medal alongside the Yellow Tee Stableford. The winner in the Medal was Graeme Wood with a fantastic score of 64, his handicap will be getting a chop. Followed by Michael Simpson with a 67. In the Yellow Tee Stableford, George Baines reigned supreme with a score of 44 points followed closely by Brain Scott with 42 points. Well played to everyone. |
