Charlie gets his season underway... Last week, Charlie Thornton got his golfing season underway with the Portuguese Amateur Championship. They were competing over four rounds of golf with the lowest total taking the title. Charlie got off to a flying start by carding an opening round of 66 (-6), which included nine birdies. He was in T1st position after round one. Day two was a little steadier with a round of 70 (-2) which took his total to -8 and T1st position overall. Day three turned into a struggle for Charlie with a score of +2 taking his total to -6 and in T6th position going into the final round. Knowing he was five shots back from the leader, he knew he needed a special round. Unfortunately, the putts didn’t drop for him in the final round, leaving him with a level-par fourth round score and a total of -6 for the tournament. This placed him in T10th position which considering the level of competition was a fantastic result. Well done Charlie, use this as a stepping for the season ahead. |
