Welcome to another exciting edition to Fulford Golf Club's weekly newsletter. Well, this week we can officially say that the golfing season has got underway with-it being Masters week. It looks like it's going to be another fantastic scene at Augusta National, and we hope that you enjoy it as much as us.

Competition news

Juniors vs Adults match

On Sunday we had our annual Adult’s vs Juniors match where our very talented juniors take on our members. This year saw five matches take place and the winners were the Juniors.

This is a great match that is played every year, which gives the juniors a chance to mix with the adults and make new friends. A special mention goes to young duo of Zach Hemlin and Frank Smith who faced off against Mr. Captain and Mr. Vice-Captain, the lads ended up beating the captains by ten shots!

Well done guys and well done to all who took part.

The Masters

It’s here: Masters week.

Some of you may have already had your Augusta fix if you watched any of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur over the weekend, but it’s not too long to wait for the rest of us.

The buzz around the club in recent weeks has been growing and you get a real sense that this year’s Masters is going to be like no other.

Will Rory complete the Grand Slam?
Will Tiger win his 15th Major?
Could Spieth regain his form at a course he loves?

With so many possible storylines catching our imagination, all that’s left is for you to keep your diaries free on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening to enjoy what promises to be one of the best Majors in recent years.

Don't neglect your #3

A driver is a powerful beast, sometimes too powerful if a hole has a hazard within range. In this scenario, you have a plethero of options to choose from, but there is one that is often overlooked.

More to it than you think...

Long gone are the days of wearing uncomfortable metal spikes on a flat leather outsole - although there is something weirdly special about those classic golf shoes. Anyway, technology has advanced for the better in recent years with a huge focus on improving traction and stability.

Spikeless shoes still have a false perception attached to them that they're only suitable for summer golf, which may have been the case several years ago but times have changed.
