Robson Shines in Yorkshire Matchplay Event

The Yorkshire Matchplay event is one of the big competitions of the year for scratch golfers in Yorkshire. The top players qualified from the Yorkshire amateur earlier in the year to fight it out to be crowned Matchplay champion of Yorkshire.

This year our very own George Robson was flying the flag high for team Fulford. He managed to make it all the way the final where he unluckily was beaten by the winner on the 20th hole. That is a great week’s work from George, and we are very proud of what he achieved through the weekend.

Big congrats George.

Hole in One Delight

A big congratulations goes to our very own Gaenor Spittle who on Thursday while playing in a pro-am at Driffield golf club got an amazing hole in one on the 15th hole.

Well done Gaenor on this amazing achievement.

Competition news

2nd Round Presidents Putter

On Saturday we held the 2nd and final round of the president’s putter, combined with the first round in May the winner would get their name on the board and win the prestigious presidents putter.

Saturday’s winner was Ciaran Matthews with a fantastic score of 68, just beating Oliver Richardson and Tom Dobbins who had scores of 69. Well done Ciaran. However, the overall winner of the president’s putter was Sam Norman who along with his 69 from round 1 had a great 72 on Saturday to win the board competition, well done Sam.

George's Winter Packages

These jaws have some bite

Winter is coming

Have you ever noticed how much harder you need to hit your putts in the winter compared to summer? As surfaces begin to slow due to longer grass and wetter greens, the need for a little extra effort on your putting stroke becomes clear.

Should you change your putter?

As putts need to be hit harder to get the ball going the same distance as they do in the summer months, using a heavier putter certainly won’t do you any harm.

The thought here is that a heavier putter will do more of the work for you, allowing for a smooth and more controlled putting stroke.

Whilst still being relatively lightweight compared to some putters in the range (Valor is 30g heavier), PING's Sigma 2 Wolverine putter is certainly an option we'd recommend you trying.
