Competition news

Finals Update

With the end of the season creeping upon us we are getting to the business end of the knockout competitions, and on Saturday we had two finals taking place...

Club Championship Knockout Final

This was contested between two young guns, Charlie Thornton and Ciaran Matthews, and with all the rain we had had, the course was playing long and tough from the blue tees.

This match was played over 36 holes and after the first 18 Charlie had a 6up lead after an impressive back nine of 5 under par. After the break he did not let up and ended up finishing the match 9&7.

Congratulations Charlie on a great win and to Ciaran for a great match in tough conditions.

Ladies Foursomes Final

The second final that took place on Friday was the ladies’ foursomes final.

This match was between the teams of Gillie Allison and Alex Bonfield, and Helen Barugh and Michelle Rogers.

After a well fought match the victors were Gillie and Alex, congratulations to you both on a very fine board competition win.

Are you part of the 70%?

The popularity of Distance Measuring Devices (DMDs) has been growing for several years as golfers seek as much help as possible whilst out on the course. Garmin Approach S40 watch

GPS devices are not just about reading front, middle and back yardages. Well, in some cases they are, but not when it comes to Garmin’s Approach S40 watch.

As we know, the course can be played several different ways and the Approach S40 displays distances to hazards and doglegs at a glance, which will prove vital when trying to take your course management to the next level.

In fact, at this time of the year when a wet course is a regular occurrence, knowing your yardages has never been more important. This is where the S40 comes into its own as it allows you to alter the pin's position on your watch so you can get highly accurate distances.

A new ball from Titleist

It's not uncommon for brands to launch their products as the greatest thing since sliced bread, however, if you like to play a ball that has an ultra-soft feel and doesn't shirk its responsibilities off the tee or around the green, then the brand new TruFeel could well make a justified claim to that title.
