Putting Callaway through its paces This week we thought it would be good to see how the brand new Mavrik Drivers stood up to the lasted hype. As a Callaway ambassador, I already play the Rogue driver so first, we took some data for a baseline start point. My current driver (see fig.1) was carrying 254 yards and finishing a total of 277yards. First to go up against my Rogue was the Epic Flash (see fig 2.) which increased my carry total to 259yards and total distance to 283 yards, which was largely due to the increased ball speed the driver created. Finally (see fig3.) it was the turn of the Mavrik driver, within the first few shots there was a significant sound difference from the Epic Flash (which I liked) and once again my numbers increased, this time carry was up to 261yards and total distance to 286yards. See fig 4. For our full data which shows the increased ball speed and distance. The Verdict There is no denying that across all 3 drivers the Mavrik has come out on top, not only in carry distance, total distance, ball speed but sound as well and has therefore made it into my golf bag for next weeks Pro-Am. |
