Club Championship Weekend It has been fantastic to see all our members back playing more golf socially and even competitively over the last couple of months. More and more competitions are being played weekly for all the juniors, men, and ladies. At the weekend we were lucky enough to host our annual club stroke play championship, one of the biggest club competitions of the year. As usual the turn out for both competitions was brilliant. This year’s club championship saw many of the junior members taking part in both the men and ladies. Elliot Williams had a fantastic first round on the Saturday posting a gross 73 to place him very close to the top of the table alongside Jamie miller who shot a gross 71. In the ladies club championship, it was even closer with Jodie Himsworth and Tracey Maddison both shooting a gross 78 heading into the second day. It was all to play for! On day two the conditions were slightly better which gave plenty of players the opportunity to close the gap on the leading players. One of the rounds of the day came from Rob Hutton who shot a level par 72. This was not quite enough to close the gap on Jamie Miller who followed his 71 with a fine 72 to secure the victory. Well done Jamie and a special mention to our juniors who all played extremely well. In the ladies championship our very own Jodie Himsworth came out on top by two shots from Tracey Maddison, this was a great way to round off Jodie’s amateur career as she turns professional within the next month. Congratulations also to Tracey Maddison for two very good rounds. A special thanks also go to the green staff who presented the course in immaculate condition for the whole of the two days.
