Midweek Medal - Wednesday
On Wednesday the sun shone for our midweek medal and the scoring proved this. 1 score in particular stood out above them all, a 67 gross nett 66 from 16 year old Charlie Thornton, this score was good enough for him to win by 1 shot and get his handicap down to scratch. Well done Charlie.
Charlie will also be playing in the Carris Trophy this week which is held at Little Aston golf club from the 21st till the 24th. The Carris Trophy is the Under 18s English stroke play event. Past winners include our very own Jonathan Plaxton and European Tour stars Justin Rose and Graeme Storm. We all wish him the best of luck this week. Monthly medal - Saturday
On Saturday we had our July Monthly medal which was played in very tough conditions, this resulted in the standard scratch going up to 74. The winner with a very good score of 68 was Neil Martin, that's a great score in very testing conditions. Well done.
Alongside the monthly medal the ladies had there July medal and the winner of this was Angela Johnson with a score of 75. Well played Angela in those tough conditions.
Breakfast Shotgun - Sunday
Every year we hold a breakfast shotgun on the Sunday of The Open Championship, this year was no exception. With everyone teeing off at 7am the conditions were wet and breezy. Despite this the winning score was a fantastic 85 points from Sam Pepper, Mal Pepper, Steve Daniel and our own George Forder. The Peppers seem to have an act for winning this event that makes it 2 years on the trot. Can anybody beat them?
